On Thursday, June 11 2015, Detroit Music Notes was invited to experience a bucket list event in Morrison, Colorado. Brit Floyd (The world's greatest Pink Floyd Show) was to take the stage for the third year in a row during their 2015 Space and Time World Tour playing to another sold out audience of over 9,500 fans at Red Rocks Amphitheater. That's right, three sold out shows; three years in a row! And without question, Brit Floyd IS the world's greatest Pink Floyd Show. Amidst the towering sandstone monoliths named 'Creation Rock' and 'Ship Rock', fifty years of Pink Floyd music was recreated in note for note accuracy in the 'Garden of Angels' which would make any avid Pink Floyd fan question ; 'Which one's Pink?' Doors were scheduled to open at 6:30 but were delayed due to Mother Nature. She put on her own show of lightning, wind and torrential downpours but it was not enough to hold back the fans. Due to the incliment weather and wind, some of the regular stage visuals such as screens and inflatables were omitted due to safety concerns but didn't hinder the show one bit. Once they took the stage, nobody seemed to care that it was raining anymore. Performing deep cuts such as 'See Emily Play' and 'Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun' to such timeless classics as 'Time', 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Money', three hours went by in the blink of the eye. Highlight of the night is when they were joined by the Young Voices of Colorado during the anthem 'Another Brick In The Wall. After band introductions, the show finished with a theatrical reenactment of the entire side four of Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' including 'The Show Must Go On', 'In The Flesh', 'Run Like Hell', 'Waiting For The Worms', 'Stop', 'The Trial' and 'Outside The Wall'. |
